Problem
Elliot Treacy and Matt Stainthorpe own and run Lumens of London Limited, a lighting business that provides shop front lighting for a lot of top designers brands. The business was growing rapidly, and their focus was solely on meeting their client’s deadlines and fulfilling every job.
Like a lot of businesses, we meet, Lumens’ accounting was getting a bit out of hand and on their own admission, accounting is not their strong point. Their business had grown to the point where they needed a bookkeeper and fast.

Solution
Elliot contacted Paul in September 2019 having heard good things about the service that Cain & Co provide after a lengthy chat on the telephone Paul met with Elliot and Matt in their studio in East London.
Paul was able to gather a better understanding of the job needed to get Lumens of London up to date and then put a set of processes in place to ensure the bookkeeping was kept up to date.
The initial stage was to bring everything up to date using Xero which involved an initial onsite visit with Elliot. Nowadays, the invoices are emailed to Cain & Co for processing through to Hubdoc and then processed into Xero. The bank feeds are all set up, so Helen can ensure that the bank account is reconciled weekly.
Each month Paul produces management accounts and he will then go through the figures with Elliot and Matt, so they understand how their financial affairs are looking.
